The new single, Make A Life, Not A Living is the first release from his upcoming album, What Is Life? (April 9, 2021) - and it's clear from the jump that Kissel is looking to get a little deeper this time around.
The 30-year-old father of three from farm country in Flat Lake, Alberta, is asking the big questions, and it starts with the album title and starts to get to the point on the first single.

What Is Life? is a 14-track album (10 songs + an intro + 3 interludes that are going to put a smile on your face and melt your heart). It will come in at just over 35 minutes and give you a new selection of songs to add to your Brett Kissel library. We're going to have to wait and see of course how many of them work their way onto playlists, radio Top 10s, and into the list of personal favourites for individual fans. But, based on his track record, it would be a safe bet that What Is Life?, Make A Life, Not A Living, and future singles will find success and leave their mark.
When talking about the What Is Life? album, Kissel says, "That age-old question is one that I've really focused on and centred around for this next phase of my career and for my life. And each and every time, the one thought that is always front and centre for me, is doing the best we can with what we have, and making the most of our lives - living the words that I sing in the first song - and I hope that everyone who hears it not just enjoys it, but is also inspired by it."
