Breathe In Hillary Susz’s ‘Pollution’ [Stream]

Unfortunately, if this year is any indication, fear is still something those in power use to poison things they don’t understand — and society is still drinking it in. Things as organic as love are portrayed as toxic, and this is what Boulder, Colorado poet and songwriter, Hillary Susz, laments in “Pollution”.

“Her lips are like pollution/Steam rising from a wishing well/She fills my lungs and makes me sick/And I love her still.” Her lament begins gently then rises to an uproar, a shift that exposes how deeply Susz feels about something so beautiful being so grossly mislabeled. In what sounds like the love child of Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen, Susz speaks her truth through a unique voice and resolute melody that win us over more with every listen. “Pollution” is taken from her new album The Heart Will Jump (With Nowhere To Fall). Listen to it above and download it for yourself here.
