If you are going to visit the zoo, why not get an early start and have breakfast with the giraffes? Or a hippo?
Last week, we were invited to experience Beastly Breakfast, a new experience at our San Antonio Zoo! We enjoyed a buffet style breakfast, participated in a private feeding and took pictures with the zoo's three giraffes, Alan, Brayden and Cosmo!
Breakfast includes eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, a yogurt bar, an assortment of pastries, and refreshments.
Animal Care Specialists are on site and great at answering any questions you have, from where the giraffes were born to the conservation efforts of the San Antonio Zoo.
Each paid person recieves three pieces of lettuce during giraffe feed.
And you get to take an amazing family photo! I think Brayden, this 4 year old reticulated giraffe, will be on our Christmas card!
Children 2 and under are free, Children older than 2 are $19.99 and Adults are $24.99. When you remember that regular giraffe feedings are $7 for 3 pieces of lettuce, Beastly Breakfast is a great deal for such a memorable experience!
And every giraffe feeding helps the San Antonio Zoo's partnership with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF).
Just added are Beastly Breakfasts with a Uma, the hippo! You can enjoy breakfast inside the Africa Live exhibit, plus, animal care specialists will also be on hand to chat about the hippo, her care, and you can see her get her breakfast.

FYI - Beastly Breakfast Guidelines
- San Antonio Zoo admission required, but not included.
- Guests 15yrs and younger must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Check-in starts at 8:00 a.m. and the experience starts at 8:30 a.m.
- Overall program lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
- Each paid person will receive 3 pieces of lettuce.
- Refunds are not available for no-shows or without a minimum of one week notice.
- The San Antonio Zoo reserves the right to cancel or modify the experience due to inclement weather, animal health, and/or safety concerns. In the event of cancellation, efforts will be made to reschedule you on a future date.
- Program is subject to change and/or cancellation due to animal availability.
- No service animals are permitted at the giraffe feeding experience.
