To celebrate the 30th birthday of Diario Catarinense, May 5, the editors decided to do the front page in two styles, one in the current design of the newspaper, and one reminiscing of how it was at the beginning.
I worked closely with art director Luiz Adolfo Lino DeSouza in creating the original concept. Diario Catarinense was redesigned a few years ago, retaining many of the features of the original.
Luiz Adolfo has sent me these front pages, with a note:
“Diario Catarinense turned 30 last May 5. It was the first Brazilian daily newspaper to have computers for all in the newsroom. The design has had several itirations since the Mario Garcia design, including a new logo.”
