Hurts the starting pitcher depth a good deal as he would have probably been the first guy up for a spot start. Assuming Morton is healthy one of Locke or Worley would be around but likely not stretched out enough to jump right into the rotation. Now I guess Sadler becomes the top AAA option to begin the year.
Depth may be an issue as there are still some question marks. Locke today took the loss against the Phillies. 3.0 IP, 2H, 2ER, 0W, 2K, 3.60 ERA. Worley in his last outing was excellent. So do both of them make the team? Neither one has any options left and surely would not clear waivers.
