bramaking blog Bra Making Class Update: Easier Payment

Just an update on my bra making class. Some people have expressed that while they would love to purchase tickets in full, they cannot right now due to the holidays. If this is you, there is an option to pay in two installments – $197.50 now and $197.50 by December 31st. To set up this form of payment, email Anna, who is helping me host the workshop, and she’ll get it all sorted out for you.

If you haven’t heard and are wondering what the heck I’m talking about, well, this January, I’m partnering with The New Old Fashioned to host an event workshop on bra making. Just 2 weeks before Valentine’s Day and in the dearth of winter, let’s say this will be an uplifting Saturday! Pun intended! An intimate group of 8 women including Lauren from Lladybird (she’s flying in to attend and will be staying with me at Chateau Madalynne) and Carolina will learn how to make a bra from start to finish. Registration is open and all the event details are below. Hopefully, I’ll be seeing you soon!

Date, time and price: Saturday, January 31 from 9:30AM – 5:00PM. Cost is $395.

The details: The workshop is open to 8 students and you can sign up through The New Old Fashioned here. After 8 have signed up, you will be put on a waiting list. The amount of people on that list will determine how many workshops are scheduled throughout the year. So if you don’t make this one, there will be more in 2015. Don’t get your panties in a knot!

Project: Students will make a full band, underwired bra. Once the class has been filled, students will be notified with the particular bra pattern that will be used and asked to find their size prior to the day of the workshop (they’ll receive information on how to do this). That way, students will be ready to make a bra when they arrive. Please note that this workshop will only cover construction, not fit. I felt that some people might be hesitant to be fit in front of a person they just met (me). If you want help with fit and pattern corrections after the class, I am more than willing to help in-person and/or via email.

Prerequisite: Intermediate sewing knowledge and a sewing machine with zigzag stitch capabilities. While we strongly suggest that you bring your own machine (it’s like learning to drive on your own car), machines will be available for those who cannot bring their own. Please let us know when you  register so we can have one set up for you.

Supplies: All pattern and supplies are included in class fee.

Accoutrements: This will not be an ordinary class; it will be a workshop event. I’m collaborating with New Old Fashioned, which has hosted various workshops in Philadelphia, for styling, food and all other aspects of coordination. The workshop will be held at Love Me Do’s studio in Fishtown – just north of Philadelphia (like the Williamsburg of NYC). It’s a gorgeous space and will make for amazing photos. Here’s some of what you can expect – lunch and refreshments throughout the day (including cocktails!), photo ops and backdrops, and lots of laughs.

If traveling from out of town, you can contact me for accommodation recommendations.
