Sometimes having a blog really pays off. Charlotte, an AmeriCorps alum from classes 14 & 15, stopped by and then hooked us up with an ISP at the organization she currently works for, the The Center for People with Disabilities up in Boulder. And if you know anything about AmeriCorps NCCC Southwest Region, you know we’ll take any reason to get in some ISPs and hang out in Boulder!
So hang out we did and got in the Christmas spirit decorating Meals on Wheels bags for the holidays.
After a hilarious power change out of our uniforms in the 15-passenger van in the parking lot of CPWD we headed over to to Celestial Seasonings (located on Sleepytime Drive) per the recommendation of Charlotte. The level of menthol present in The Mint Room was truly astonishing, but at least my sinuses will be cleaned out for a good three days and my clothes smell minty fresh.
We got to wear lovely hairnets. Unfortunately, no one in our group has a beard so a beard net wasn’t necessary.
After tea time Emily & I were ready to hit up the best Middle Eastern cafe in Boulder, Arabesque. The hummus was divine and the water still tasted of lavender. We even met the owner who is a rather intense but lovely Palestinian woman, Manal.
The next scene in this little play involved Buffalo Exchange, belly shirts, and a vow between Emily & myself to do way more ab workouts than are ever realistically going to get accomplished.
Oh, and Boulder was perfect and dismal.
All in all it was a pretty good Monday.
