Buenos Aires has a host of green spaces in which you can find a temporary reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. As we get into the heart of the summer months here, you might feel like getting in touch with nature here in Argentina’s capital. One day, after class, be sure to check out one of Buenos Aires’ best parks: the Bosques de Palermo (the Woods of Palermo).
The park, formally called “Parque Tres de Febrero” (Third of February Park), sprawls over close to 1000 acres between the Figueroa Alcoa and Libertador Avenues in Palermo, Buenos Aires. It is so named for its opening date in 1852.
Hundreds of porteños head to the Bosque de Palermo every day and it is especially popular on the weekends. There are a variety of cafes that surround the edges of the park. It is the perfect spot to get in a run (there is 1.6km running track in the park) or just chill out.
The park also has a variety of unique attractions. There are three different lakes within the Bosques de Palermo. You can rent out paddle boats during the days. Additionally, there are many different gardens, including the Rose Garden and the Poet’s Garden that has statues of famous Argentine and Spanish language poets.
Also considered part of the Bosque de Palermo compound are the other famous city attractions of the Planetarium, the velodrome, and the Andalusian Patio. It is also within walking distance of the world-renowned Japanese Gardens, Plaza Francia, and the Hippodrome.
