My Thoughts: Wow. Just wow. I really wasn't expecting much from this book. I just got the second one from Netgalley and I realized it was a sequel, so I thought I had to read the first one, well, first.
And, boy, I was not expecting this roller coaster. This book made me laugh, then it made me angry, the laugh all over again. All with me wishing I could rock pink hair like Kate. Kate, our main character, is great, she's really one of the best characters I've read about for a while. She was sarcastic, smart and everything I could ask for in a person. Then add in her goofy neighbor Seth and her hot boyfriend Liam and I think we've got a good ensemble for a good mystery. All the personalities packed into this book were perfect and clashed with each other in the right ways, even though it could get a bit cliche at times, it was still enjoyable.
And also, it wasn't omg, omg, what's going to happen, having me tearing through the pages. I was enjoyed and I took my time to analyze everything and put things together. Its that kind of mystery. Like a Nancy Drew sort of mystery. Plus, the romance isn't what the whole book is about which is how MANY books are about now-a-days, WHICH SUCKS.
She put the actual mystery at hand before her relationship making this book even better. I enjoyed the fact that Beefany couldn't remember her name and called her things like Cade and Kathy. It reminded me of John Tucker Must Die when they called Kate by the wrong name. Hilarious.
A great debut and I cannot wait to read the second one.
