Don’t Speak kept me totally engrossed in the story and with the anticipation of what would happen next. Jade the protagonist of the story in entitled with the a job of nabbing a serial killer who is responsible for killing radio talk show hosts at will.
The murders take place when America is searching for its new presidential candidate. Mystery piles up with every page as of why and who is behind the killings. The killer leaves absolutely no clues and amidst all the tension sends a mail to Jade about what he feels about the conservative talk show and who will be his next target.Jade follows the lead and fails in the endeavor.I loved the way author was able to put some humor in the story, where Whitney plans a quiet and romantic dinner with her husband, when people spot her and wanted to take a photograph with the lady who is running for the Democratic nomination for the president of the USA. Whitney sighs “So much for a quiet, romantic dinner alone.” Another instance that I liked is when Cole Brennan another candidate confronts his eight year old daughter Kaitlin who says him that he only likes people who are rich and people who are like him. Cole is not disturbed by what people say about him but when he sees doubt about his character on his little girl’s face for the first time.Life is what happens to you when are busy planning something else. You may win a Presidential election but if your little kids don’t believe in you it’s a battle fought in a losing cause and when you think that you can have a romantic dinner quietly, people follow you to catch a glimpse you thinking they are having their moment of a lifetime. The book catches all the elements of life and has given a bird’s eye view of the raw emotions of the characters who are engrossed in the jobs they are entitled to. Do keep turning the pages to find who the serial killer is.Great book and I had a wonderful time reading it!
