Book of Enoch

Posted on the 02 July 2014 by Savio Menezes
Book of Enoch Jews don’t believe in Jesus as a promised Messiah. They don’t believe because of many reasons. One of the reasons is that He didn’t fulfill prophecies. Yes He didn’t fulfill prophecies but He will fulfill those prophecies during His second coming. But Jews don’t believe in second coming. They say that Messiah’s second coming was never mentioned in the Old Testament. But it was mentioned in the Book of Enoch. This book is included in canon of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church. But no other church has this book in their canon. This book was written much before birth of Jesus Christ. It was written before flood during Noah’s time. Many early Christian scholars used this book. But this book was banned in Council of Laodicea.

Who was Enoch?

Enoch was great grandfather of Noah. Here is what Bible tells of Enoch:
Jared lived one hundred sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch. Jared lived after he became the father of Enoch eight hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters. All the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty-two years, then he died. Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after he became the father of Methuselah three hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters. All the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. Genesis 5:18-24
By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he would not see death, and he was not found, because God took him away. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God. Hebrews 11:5
About these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” Jude: 14-15
