Located on the grounds of the former Lowry Air Force Base is this 1955 vintage RB-52B.  Originally delivered to the Lowry Technical Training Center to be used as a trainer and later transferred to Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in 1994.  One notable feature of all B-52’s are the wrinkled skin as seen here.  Large aircraft like this utilize relatively lightweight aluminum skins for weight reduction.  The thin metal skins are subject to compressive and pressure loads during flight which results in the harmless rippling seen in the metal. The rippling is particularly visible on the B-52 with the flat  fuselage surfaces.   The B-52 has been in active service with the USAF since 1955, 58 are in active service with 18 in reserve.  Fuji X-E2s w/18-135mm.
