This week, Scottish electronic duo, Boards of Canada, released their fourth full-length after a seven-year hiatus. If you get creepy, 1970s horror film vibes while listening to it, then they’ve succeeded — BoC has cited John Carpenter and soundtracks as major influences for their darkly textured release. Coma Cinema gave us his latest release, filled with morbidly depressing, yet somehow incredibly enjoyable, pop. British producer, Gold Panda, dropped his latest and greatest new dance record, full of glitzy hooks and clean, rhythmic sampling — it’s fantastic. Sonny & the Sunsets presented us with some sci-fi beach pop, delivering summertime energy in throwback pop packaging. Last on the list is the ever-amazing Surfer Blood, whose latest will sneakily engulf you in guitar-driven, hook-laden vibes. Pythons is a subtle masterpiece.
