Blue Tacoma, Russell Dickerson at Boots & Hearts 2018

Russell Dickerson came north for his first Boots & Hearts Music Festival, and we'd bet that we'll be seeing him again.

The Tennessee native got up on the sunny main stage early Friday evening to play for the Canadian country music fans. And in a set that included the songs we know from country radio and some that we didn't know yet, he had the sun-soaked audience bopping right along with him.

The show started with twentysomething, Billions, and Every Little Thing, getting everyone in the mood for another set of live country music on the first full day of the festival. And then Dickerson got his first singing in the crowd when he played his 2011 single, That's My Girl. It was cool to see the breakout artist look out over an audience that had likely never seen him before, thousands of miles from home, and seeing those lips singing his song.

They got ever louder with their singing later on. But before that, they were happy to let the music and energy wash over them as Russell came out onto the catwalk to get closer to them and make a connection. Energy was something that the singer had in spades, and he was happy to show it.

At the end of the set, Dickerson got that loud sing-along love that makes live music super special.

When the band broke into Blue Tacoma a buzz of recognition and excitement came over the crowd, and it didn't take long from them to get as loud as they could. The track is already Top 15 on US country radio and is climbing the charts in Canada, cracking the Top 40. And if the response at Boots & Hearts is any indication, we won't be surprised to see it keep climbing.

Russell Dickerson ended his set with Yours. The song was a big one for him, going all the way to #1. It was also one of the most popular wedding songs of the last few years in country music and is tied to a lot of sweet memories for fans. The B&H fans sang with Russell one last time before he left the stage. And before he left, he showed his appreciation by jumping down into the pit to get close enough to the front row to reach in for high fives and handshakes.

It was a great end to his first Boots & Hearts experience. He confirmed it with this caption on Instagram...

If y'all were wondering, YES @bootsandhearts was that lit. Seriously so crazy to hear all y'all singing BLUE TACOMA... 🚙🚙🚙🌴🌴🌴☀️☀️☀️
