Four hours and twenty-three minutes. For all of six runs. (I shaved at least twice while this game was going on. Or so it seemed.)
Jon Lester ran out of gas after just five innings, but left with a 2-1 lead. I think he threw about 200 pitches, something like that. And a very rare event occurred tonight: Alfredo Aceves got tagged with a loss, just the third of his MLB career in 26 decisions.
New York left runners everywhere early, but the Sox could manage just a Dustin Pedroia home run off A.J. Burnett. (Wasn't he supposed to give up 8 runs or so tonight?)
Red Sox have a half-game lead, and lead New York in the season series 11-4.
Texas comes to Boston for the weekend, the final games the Sox play against anyone outside of the AL East in this regular season.
