Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that I was telling people that I would never get over the Penguins loss? But now, it seems so far away. It doesn't even cross my mind. That's because all I can think about is the Pirates. How they are playing. How they don't get the publicity they deserve. All the things that surround following a baseball team like it's a religion, I'm doing. As a young fan, my Bucco fever is running at an all time high. All day I sit and talk with people all over the internet about our Buccos, anticipating the next Pirate game. It's amazing the way our team is playing, and I am definitely taking time to enjoy it.
Living so far away, it's hard to connect with other fans, and really feel the energy of the Pirates right now. The town I'm in doesn't buzz for sports. They love basketball, but it just doesn't feel right. I'm in Reds country, but you wouldn't know it. When you tell people you are staying home to watch a baseball game, they don't understand. You try to explain to them the special feeling you are feeling about the Pirates, and they still don't understand that you have an emotion connection to a sports team.
For me, I can only imagine what most of Bucco Nation has been through. I've never seen the Steelers or Penguins be a consistently bad baseball team, and I can honestly say the same thing about the Pirates. I've religiously followed them since 2011. The year they started to get over the hump. So no, I cannot imagine the hurt you guys have had to endure before you were able to witness this greatness. But the waiting has to make it all the better. So enjoy it. Enjoy the buzz of the town. Enjoy seeing the younger generation start to come back to the Pirates. Because you never know how long it will last. #BUCN
