Bloc Party Kettling | Review

Posted on the 13 November 2012 by Indiequeenmaz @indiequeenmaz
Every so often a band changes direction, they do something they aren't used to. Sometimes it brings out the worst sound possible (Robbie Williams "Rudebox" I'm looking at you) and other time it's pure BRILLIANCE.
Bloc Party have gone in a whole different direction with their new album Four, if you haven't listened to it then do it. DO IT NOW.
Kettling is a strange but beautiful song, it starts off with a heavy guitar rift only to ease when Kele starts singing. Kele's voice is soft but when the chores comes in he really gives it some power. I hate to say it but this song is somewhat Emo, it reminds me of being 18, with a shit haircut and generally being miserable about everything (even though there was nothing to be miserable about). Kettling is channelling so much anger and passion in the song, you almost forget it's Bloc Party, but then out of no where you hear electronic something that Bloc Party are most famous for. It's like hear us roar but we'll give you a cuddle at the same time.
Bloc Party have grown up, evolved their taste but stayed true to who they are(were). Check out the video below, it's a bit graphic.
