Blackpool & The Fracking Censors? Put This in Your NUS Meeting.

By Ashleylister @ashleylister
There was going to be no blog post today as a mark of respect for those members pushed out of the group  by their official college ties. I salute you for your work over the years and wish you all the very best with your writing. In my opinion, the college should be open and free about its intention to train fracking staff but, to minimise public anger, this is something it is keeping very quiet. There is, however, an open day planned for the 5th March at which I intend to make the news and my feelings on the personal treatment of the group known to the general public.
Many times we have debated whether or not we are better to go it alone and many times we have held off and remained loyal to the college from which we were all once members. This is no longer the case and so I feel it only fair to name and shame those I find that have backed us into this unacceptable corner- starting with the power mad NUS president of the college, Lisa Kelly, who has very much disgraced herself over this issue.

Enough.
Miss Craving Power,  Slik Yella, whatever your name may be
I'm not here to pull punches, I am simply telling thee
If you think after all these years we'll quietly sit down
You're not quite representative of people in this town.
Now it is a shame that I lament, this taking on the president
But the NUS society is not for you, but students.
So I plan to speak about Cuadrilla, plan to break the silence
I plan to plaster posters up but plan to use no violence
So lead the cops to your own door, I will not cry or weep
To hear you're having regrets now and not getting your sleep
So listen up, we're wringing out our group and then the bells
This censorship is a disgrace, you know it for yourselves
You have used us all for your own gain, our name still on your site
I'll take you on at wordplay if you fancy it- you're shite.
For we've sat through narcissistic poems clunked aloud by you
We didn't point out your mistakes and didn't heckle through
We've made concessions over time, missed opportunities
And all this in the name of B&FC's loyalties.
For what? A sodding banner that we've brought to your events
You've heard us speak in public, now I'm bringing discontent
The truth is that we've represented Blackpool mighty bloody well
We've touted work to Preston and we've brought it back as well
So bring out the truth in public- you are taking fracking money
You name us outlaws for speaking out, we don't find that very funny
So I hope our numbers swell now that the group has been disowned
I hope you're ousted as a weasel- lose your course, job, home
For this is what you've done to us, we're disjointed, it's true
But now our backs are to the rack we're coming. Target- you.
This piece reflects the personal view of Shaun Brookes, alumni. It is not representative of the views of the group as this would be impossible without a vote. On that line, in the absence of fair warning, no fracking student vote and no appeals procedure- it is alleged that the current president of the Blackpool and Fylde College NUS meetings, a certain Miss L Kelly (Bower) (who used to write for this very blog) has abused her position as well as the trust given to her by the student body. If you are a student reading this and feel you can support this cause, please feel free to message me with your support and I'll let you know where you can attend
THE NORTHWEST's FIRST OUTLAWED POETRY SOCIETY- A PLACE WHERE SPEECH IS FREE (as is entry).
