Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day will have his own music store in Oakland, California soon.
Armstrong will official open Broken Guitars at 423 40th Street, Oakland on April 3, 2015. The site was once the location of 1-2-3-4 Go Records, an indie store and label. The store is now located across the street at 420 40th.
Billie Joe Armstrong has gone into business for the new store with his associate Bill Schneider, who is also a former bandmate in the band Pinhead Gunpowder. Schneider was the owner of music store Univibe in Oakland before it shut in 2001.
The name Broken Guitars was inspired by a picture of Pete Townshend of The Who smashing his guitar.
