It’s official! The first line up announcement for Bestival Toronto was released today. Let’s start with the list of bands and we’ll go from there!

Now I was going to write a post today with some predictions for the festival but, having the first line up announcement show up in our email has made that post unnecessary. So… the first thing I noticed, was the only act appearing on both the Toronto and Isle of Wight festival (so far) is Jamie XX. The English producer and remix artist has worked with artists like Drake and Alicia Keys. Remixing since 2009 he and his band mates from XX have covered our first headliner Florence + The Machine’s “You Got The Love”.

Florence + The Machine, the English indie rock band, fronted by Florence Welch is our first big name. They’ve got a new album set to be released at the end of May just in time for the Bestival Toronto festival which is happening on Toronto Island June 12th and 13th. The new album “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” was record last year and the first single, “What Kind of Man” dropped on January 6th in the UK and February 6th in North America. With over 3,929,000 YouTube views this is haunting, sometimes shocking and beautiful.

Now available for pre-release on iTunes , Amazon and on Google Play.

With eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums and over 25 million records sold worldwide, Nas has been performing since 1991 and has collaborated with the likes of Mobb Deep, Diddy, Notorious B.I.G., Mariah Carey, Wu-Tang Clan, Run D.M.C., 50 Cent, Korn, Jully Black, 2Pac, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Winehouse and the list goes on and on.

Pulling one out of the big list I’m going to focus on Born Ruffians. A Canadian indie rock band formed in 2004. Originally out of Midland and now residing in Toronto, they’re currently signed to Yep Roc Records and  Paper Bag Records and according to their latest Facebook post, they’re almost done recording their new album.

So far I like the variety of music Bestival Toronto is bringing us and I can’t wait for the next announcement.
