Optimize Your PC Settings
If you’re satisfied with your PC’s ability to run Fortnite, you need to tweak its settings in preparation. If you’re running Fortnite from a laptop, make sure that your laptop is connected to a power outlet for the best possible performance.
If you’re running your laptop from its battery, make sure the batter mode is on ‘High Performance’. It’s also important to ensure that you have the latest Windows updates installed. In addition to this, you also have to ensure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed.
Nvidia Graphics Card Settings:
- Run the NVidia Control Panel
- Once you have Nvidia Control Panel opened, click on Manage 3D Settings. It can be found on the left panel underneath the 3D Settings category. It should be the second option on the menu.
- Click on the tab Program Settings and find Fortnite. If you can’t find it in the menu, you’re going to have to add it manually by clicking on the ‘Add’ button. If you still can’t find it, try running the game and closing it and then trying to find it again.
- Set Fortnites Program Settings to the following:
- Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1
- Monitor Technology: G-sync (if applicable)
- Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration: Single display performance mode
- Power Management Mode: Prefer maximum performance

Windows Update Delivery Optimization may negatively impact your PC’s performance. It may take up unnecessary bandwidth while running in the background. It will also up space in your computer’s RAM.
To disable it or minimize the impact it has on system resources, follow these steps:
- The quickest way to find Window Update Settings is by using the search function in your start menu. Open start, then type Windows Update Settings. Click on the first search result.
- Once the Windows Update Settings window is open, select Advanced Options.
- Under Advanced options, select Delivery Optimization.

Alternatively, you can uninstall and completely disable OneDrive if you’re not using it. This can be done under the Apps and Features Windows Settings.
