If you've been reading my blog for longer than a nano second, it will probably be obvious to you that I am a lover of bronze smokey eye makeup which is why I have a lot of bronze eyeshadows. I thought I would show you my 'best of bronze' products.
One of my favorite palettes of all time is the Urban Decay Naked palette. It's full of neutral bronzey browny shades which are right up my street.
My favorite from this palette is "Half Baked" which is a shimmery golden bronze. I love putting this all over my lid and then adding a matte dark brown to the crease and outer corners. It's just such a bold shimmery shade that will go with any outfit or look. I'm not big on using color so this is about as bold as it's gon' get!
The Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeshadow in 'Rich Russet' was actually a reccomendation from a Lily Pebbles video. That girl knows her neutrals and when she was showcasing how stunning this product is, I just had to have it. I don't think there is a high end version of this, it's a really original product and shade that has just the right amount of shimmer. I like wearing this on it's own and blending out the edges with a fluffy brush. Thanks Lily - My eyes are forever grateful (and my purse!)
Back in 2014, I was sent one of the latest releases from Maxfactor which was the Excess Shimmer shadow pot in '25 Bronze'. This has a cream to powder type consistency and looks almost 'wet' on the eyes without it creasing. I'm a big lover of cream shadows, but one thing I dislike is applying with my fingers, so I use the Laura Mercier cream eyeshadow brush (I'm pretty sure you can find cheaper versions online if Laura Mercier isn't in your budget). The shade of this is just so rich and highly pigmented that I like to wear it on it's own with a bit on the bottom lash line as well.
Clinique released their eye chubby sticks last year and I was alllll over the shade "Fuller Fudge". It's shimmery but not so shimmery that I look like I'm heading to a disco. This lasts for hours and hours on your lids without creasing or smudging which I love. The only down side to this is the stick itself. I feel like I'm drawing on my eyelids with a jumbo marker which isn't really my thing.
Finally, it's an oldie but daaaaamn it's a goodie. Maybelline's 24 hour color tattoo in "On & On Bronze" is just amaze-diggity-dog. I probably use this the most of all the products I've mentioned here because it's just such a versatile product that works well with other products, is easily blendable and never ever lets me down in the 'staying power' department. I like wearing this with a matte black faded into the outer corners for a night out or on it's own for a daytime look. Reeeally love this and would replace it time and time again!
Narrowing down my favorite bronze shadows was a task and a half, I managed to find about 20 that I wanted to include LOL!
Some people say they find bronze shadows make their eyelids look a bit oily - I have never noticed it personally but would be really intrigued to know if any of you have had this? Do you think this is always the case with bronze shadows? I might just be looking at it with rose (or bronze HAHA!) tinted glasses...
