Try the Best Dry Spice Rub for Chicken, Beef and Pork at your next barbecue...it's my favorite and it's perfect! Best Dry Spice Rub for Chicken, Beef and Pork

I recently shared a jar of this spice rub with a friend and she called begging me for the recipe. Seriously it's the people closest to me that totally forget I have a blog with the recipe for almost anything they've ever had at my home; funny that isn't it? But I found it and when I realized it had been four years ago when it was originally published, when I was working in my daughter's condo waiting for my new home to be finished, I knew it was time for an update!

My original post was about redoing the kitchen in my daughter's condo here in Colorado and I thought it time for a quick edit or two. In those four years she has moved to North Carolina, met a guy, fallen in love, married and moved with him to South Carolina...maybe the story of her condo could be nixed? Yeah, I thought so too.

I do recall that we made her a cool spice rack for over her sink but she wanted this Dry Spice Rub for Chicken, Beef and Pork prominently displayed. Sounds good to me; this rub is like art when first made (use it enough and not so much!).

I also talked about my new home that I had just bought. This is the photo I took of the model. Mine looks NOTHING like this but still...I love this home. I love where it's located and I've grown to love many of my neighbors and their kids. I love the room to the right of the kitchen I use for my photo studio instead of a dining room. And I love that I'm almost done with the huge work to get a landscape in place and can spend more time on the inside. I STILL don't have a tile backsplash in the kitchen or curtains hung in the kitchen or great room! Maybe this winter? Then maybe I'll do a similar photo!

Speaking of spices? I actually keep mine in this Elfa rolling cart next to the kitchen island. I used it in my older home and never really expected to here but it got wheeled inside, it fit and today I can not imagine not having it. I have enough cabinets but not enough drawers and it's been invaluable for spices, kitchen towels and cake pans. Container Store (totally unsolicited praise) always comes to my rescue!

I honestly don't mess with a lot of variations on spice rubs for my grilled foods; I think this one is so good that while I'll concentrate on developing a new sauce this rub goes on everything I put onto my grill or into my smoker. It's a great blend of spices but I think the secret is the brown sugar...but then I think everything is better with brown sugar! I recently smoked an 11 pound turkey and it was amazing with this rub and a honey, bourbon and roasted pecan glaze that I first made for a deep fried turkey.

As a bonus? This makes a great holiday gift; it's been so popular with friends that I get hints that they wouldn't mind more. It's easy too...so we all come out winners!
