BERRY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE
I have breakfast everyday without fail, it really is beyond me how people can skip breakfast. I like to keep my breakfasts healthy as I feel like it's a good way to kick start my day. Usually I have weetabix with chopped up banana and milk, but on days where I have a little more time I like to make a smoothie. Over the summer I've explored different ingredients with smoothies and I've learnt that you can pretty much throw whatever you fancy in and it still comes out tasting good.
My go to smoothie is a berry one, using simple and affordable ingredients, that also only takes minutes to make. Just a quick note, I use frozen fruit as it's much cheaper and so much easier than using fresh fruit. Obviously you can't blend fruit straight from the freezer, so I allow it to part defrost for about 20 minutes, so if you're planning on making this using frozen fruit, make sure you allow time for your fruit to partially defrost.
IngredientsA generous handful of mixed berries 1 banana, choppedA handful of oats2 tbsp 0% fat greek yoghurt A splash of milk to make it a little thinner
Then you will need some sort of blender, mine is made by Kenwood, I'm not sure what it's called exactly. Then throw all of your ingredients into the blender, and blend for about 2 minutes. I then add a splash of milk and blend for a further minute just to make the consistency a little thinner.
Finally just another quick note, I use the frozen summer fruits berries from Tesco, they're £2 a box and I can usually make about 4/5 smoothies from one box. If you're also wondering why I add oats, it just makes the smoothie a little more filling, and also keeps me going for longer. Smoothies are great to experiment with, you can try with mango, orange, pineapple and even things like spinach and kale.
Enjoy! BERRY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE
