berlinist BERLINIST IS BEAUTIFUL THIS TIME OF YEAR [STREAM]

Don’t let their name fool you — Berlinist is not one person from Berlin, but rather seven people from Barcelona.  Landscapes is the band’s first EP, a two-track seven-inch that came out earlier in January.

According to their Facebook, Berlinist’s music is “based on emotions and communicating them by means of natural and true instruments that reach the listeners.” Twinkly, swirling and romantic with atmospheric, ethereal vocals over swelling and omnipresent piano, their music sounds like the soundtrack to a movie you would really want to see, or maybe one you have already seen — think Little Miss Sunshine or anything Wes Anderson. Listen carefully and you can hear trace elements of Philip Glass, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, and Beirut, which makes sense, as these guys are all listed as artists the band likes.

While there seems to be some other, older Berlinist tracks floating around on the internet, you can find and listen to Landscapes on Berlinist’s Bandcamp page (while you’re there, make sure to check out “Ollie Falls Asleep”). If you love what you hear, you can buy the EP as a digital download or on vinyl. Don’t forget to like Berlinist on Facebook and follow them on Twitter (although you may need to brush up your Spanish).
