Report: Ben Roethlisberger’s soreness has diminished

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has missed the last three weeks after suffering rib and shoulder injuries, but he was able to return to practice for the team last week and is expected to practice again this week. Ed Werder of ESPN reports that soreness in his shoulder and chest has diminished and that he’s trying to improve his strength and range of motion now that there’s less pain.
The test for Roethlisberger will be the same as it was last week. He’ll need to show the team’s coaches that he’s able to make every throw he’ll be called on to make during games and will not play if he fails to reach that standard. We wouldn’t expect any ruling on Roethlisberger’s status until much later in the week as the Steelers decide whether or not the time is right to bring their starter back into the lineup.
If he’s still not ready, Charlie Batch will start against the Chargers after leading the team to a win against the Ravens on Sunday in Baltimore.

Pittsburgh mentioned in the "Injuries" thread, that per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that Ben is supposed to play on sunday against the Chargers. I'm not sure how they could come to a decision this early in the week, so I'm gonna believe it is more speculation than a reality. We'll see what happens after a full week of practice
With Charlie showing he still got it, I see no need to plug Ben in there if not needed. If Charlie starts to have a bad game then, I say put Ben in there if he's up to it.
With Charlie being the guy if Ben can't make it, does that mean he's the 2nd stringer again or is Leftwich that injured ?
I wonder how long the Ravens will keep Dixon on their team once Ben is healthy agan ?
There is no need to play Ben against San Diego except as a last resort. If it were up to me, Brian Hoyer would see action before Ben would. With an injury like he suffered, he'd have to be 100% before I'd put him in.
Would anyone be upset if Ben wasn't ready to go ? I'm not saying lets keep Back Up Batch in there but, I would hate to see Ben take any steps backward if he isn't fully healed. On the other hand, Dallas isn't going to be an easy win so, Ben might need some reps and game time activity to stay or get sharp.

I don't think we need him and his health is more important long term for games that do matter. The Chargers are a pretty crappy team we can handle without Ben. Let the guy heal. I'd rather have Ben against Dallas (although the thought of him getting drilled into the turf at Texas Stadium isn't a good one)
Fezzi... what is that in your signature? It's kinda small to make out. From the distance looks like a Barracuda

If all goes well at practice, I would love to see him back. For a team that has a tendency of playing down to their competition, I don't look at the Chargers any differently than I do the Raiders, Titans, Browns or a Chiefs team that nearly beat us at home.
Either way, whatever choice they decide to make on Sunday, I'll take their judgement and expertise.
