The beginning of the month can only mean one thing here at The Wild Honey Pie — it’s mixtape time! With the first edition of our Spotify mixtape series, Beekeeping, we featured mostly new music — 31 tracks from artists including Wet, Caveman, Young Galaxy, Poliça, Wild Nothing, and Cayucas. This month, however, we’re doing something a bit different. In honor of National Pollinator Week, which takes place from June 17-23, we’ve created a Spotify playlist of bee-themed music — 32 songs that either have lyrics or song/album titles about bees or honey.
To keep with the bee theme, we’re teaming up with our absolute favorite company, Burt’s Bees, and using this mixtape to drive awareness for sustaining and growing the endangered bee population. These magical fuzzy little creatures are responsible for one third of the tastiest and most nutritious foods. That’s where Wild For Bees comes in. Check back on June 17th because Burt’s Bees is sharing pollinated recipes from beekeeping chefs and giving away bee-friendly wildflower seed packs. In addition, we’re also offering up some pretty amazing Burt’s Bees prize packs (who doesn’t want more of their lip balm, seriously?). To snag one of those, simply comment on this post — we’ll select 10 winners randomly at the end of the month and ship them to you. Up your chances of winning by letting us know you get the more obscure references (Blind Melon, The Monkees, etc.).
That’s enough rambling! Enjoy the bee tunes, and go eat some honey, honey.
