Remember that summer camp you may have attended when you were young? You grew your own beets and had pirate wars with bearded, overly-competitive 20 year old counselors. Bedroom’s “We All Need Something” might just take you back to that lake or forest. The acoustic guitar is beautifully earthy and the echoing sound of the lead singer may lure you into some dream-like dimension.

The video seals this experience. Director Roberto Colombo is clearly fantastic, as he visually satisfies that longing for nature, making the desperation to escape the urban environment momentarily disappear. There’s something great about watching a video of people ten times cooler than myself — the kind of people who are capable of beautifully jumping into a waterfall. The camera trails this group as they hang out in nature, the antithesis of the city you may be sitting in. A groovy Volkswagen bus twists through ambiguous wilderness, almost as if Woodstock were synthesized with Lost (everyone’s secret dream). It chronologically proceeds through a morning of aqueous shenanigans into a darker afternoon on dry land. The imagery adjusts to the song, as earthy chants accompany their mountainous expedition. The cinematography truly throws us into scenes, both wet and dry, assimilating us into the narrative of Bedroom’s summer day. Needless to say, the entire video is both visually and audibly appealing. Today, we all need summer, and Colombo and Bedroom will take you there.
