Too much of a good thing is not always a good thing especially when it comes to makeup–am I right ladies? Nothing is more distracting than a face caked on with foundation and bronzer. For those times when you are a little heavy-handed with the makeup keep reading for some quick fixes and don’t be ashamed it happens to the best of us.

What To Do When You’ve Applied Too Much Makeup?

Foundation: When our face makeup looks caked on, you should first use one-ply tissue. Lightly run it over your face, and give areas like your hairline, jawline, nose and chin a second pass if needed. You can also pat on a light layer of moisturizer over your makeup to thin out the coverage.

Blush and Bronzer: If the problem is pigmented, you need something stronger than a tissue. Squeeze some tinted moisturizer on a makeup sponge and start dabbing. You’ll buff out the color without getting rid of it completely.

Eyeliner: Applying eyeliner is a constant battle for control between you and the pencil, when this happens you have two options. Option 1: Embrace it. Use a cotton swab to smudge it out and pretend like it’s the look you were going for. Option 2: Erase it with primer. Dampen the end of a cotton swab with primer and clean it up in fluid motions. You should be able to get two clean swipes out of each swab. The primer will remove your liner without taking the rest of your makeup with it.

Sunless Tanner: To attack a few select streaks, cut a lemon in half and rub it over the area for a few minutes. Then buff that spot with a damp washcloth sprinkled with baking soda and rinse. If your tan is just too much all over, hop in a warm bath and do some serious scrubbing.
