Beach Bags You’ll Want to Tote on Vacation

I love the beach, it is my happy place. Granted, I don't spend nearly enough time going there, but part of the reason I can't live in a land locked state is simply knowing that I can get to the ocean in under an hour. I grew up in New Jersey and spent summers going "down the shore" as we Jersey natives refer to it, I have been to handful of Caribbean islands, with many more on my list, and would retire to one today if I could. Give me an large umbrella, a cocktail, relaxing lounge and a view of the waves and I am in heaven. Of course, I also need the perfect beach bag to carry all my stuff. In today's accessorizing post I am going to share some covetable beach bags for you to consider for your upcoming trip to the beach, pool or whatever body of water you prefer.

Beach bag #1

Being a practical person, I am going to start with a basic canvas tote from Zappos.com that will match whatever you are wearing. Call me picky, despite all the colorful totes out there, I like it when my beach bag matches my outfits. I also love a bag that I can carry beyond just the beach or pool. I even wrote a post last year on how your beach bag can be used on your entire vacation. This is why I think a simple and versatile style trumps all. Plus, the fabric is machine washable and durable.

For this beachy look, I used this swimsuit from J. Crew and styled it with a pair of denim shorts from Lucky Brand, a chambray shirt, that can be worn open to cover the shoulders, from Madewell, yellow flip flops from Nordstrom and Ray Ban aviators.

Beach Bag #2
When a friend introduced me to Bogg Bag, a company started by a friend of hers, I thought the idea was brilliant. What a perfect beach bag, especially if you have kids. Imagine a bag that is tip-proof, with sturdy sides and treaded bottom that can just be hosed off after use and cleaned of things like suntan lotion, juice box spills and other food explosions. Plus, with all the wet ick that ultimately makes it into your beach bag, which can lead to bacteria and mold, with the antimicrobial properties of the Bogg Bag you don't have to worry about any of that. The material is made from the exact fabrication as Crocs. In fact, the creators of the Bogg Bag pitched the idea to Crocs who wound up rejecting it They're loss. Plus, you can use it beyond the water and sand for things like gardening, laundry and more.

In this outfit, I used a turquoise Bogg bag and styled it with this swimsuit with sporty bottoms and bikini top from Boden, a coral Athleta cover up, white Birkenstock sandals and polarized sunglasses from Oakley.

Beach Bag #3
This printed beach bag from Le Sportsac has two things going for it. First, Le Sportsac bags are durable and, second, this bag is reversible. Not only do you get two prints in one bag, but I like a beach bag that you can turn inside out to get rid of sand. I also like that this bag is colorful enough that you can wear a lot of different colored swimsuits with it. Or, if you aren't like me, and it doesn't matter if your beach bag works with your total look, I guess it doesn't matter.

I styled this beach bag with a burgundy swimsuit from The Gap, an easy J. Crew cover up in white, soft purple Havaianas flip flops and sunglasses from Jimmy Choo.

Beach Bag #4
This beach bag from Everything But Water combines two things I love in a beach bag, metallic and raffia. Metallic, like the first canvas bag, is a color that will work with whatever your outfit looks like and raffia is the perfect summer beach bag material.

In this look, I used this bikini ( top, bottom) from Tory Burch, that is reversible, and added this chic cover up from Rebecca Taylor. For this chic vacation ensemble, I added a pair of silver sandals from BCBGeneration, a navy straw hat from Nordstrom and navy sunglasses from Lily Pulitzer.

Beach Bag #5
Nylon is another great beach bag material that is durable. I particularly love the way this red style from Haiku adds a bold splash of color to this clean, modern look. The bag also has exterior pockets, not always that common in beach bags, that you can use to store smaller items for easy locating.

This bag is styled with a charcoal bathing suit from J. Crew, a tunic shirt that can stylishly cover up (the only type of cover up I usually wear), a large black and white brimmed hat from Modcloth, that will really make a statement, black slides from Seychelles and black sunglasses from Marc by Marc Jacobs.
