The city of Los Angeles is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Unfunded liabilities for L.A.’s three public pension funds approach $27 billion; this for a city that already has a budget deficit and is struggling to pay its bills. In a 2010 Wall Street Journal editorial, former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan predicted that the city would go bankrupt by 2014.
But the city managed to funnel not one, but TEN, uniformed LA county sheriffs to escort “celebrity” Kim Kardashian out of an LA court house yesterday.
She was in court for a mandatory divorce settlement, but her estranged husband, basketball player Kris Humphries, did not turn up. They were married for all of 72 days in 2011, as a publicity stunt for her trashy reality TV show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which I’ve never watched and never will.
“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
