Apply as the last part of your morning skincare routine, after moisturizer. Simply twist the stick and glide onto the skin. May also be used on shoulders, arms, and legs.

FORMULA & TEXTURE

It has a matte finish and feels a little cooling on the skin. It's lightweight, non-tacky, and non-greasy. It's a fast and mess-free application.

MY THOUGHTS

I was hesitating on getting this at first fearing it might be greasy or tacky because this is a physical sunscreen, but it isn't! The Hello Sunny Essence Sun Stick glides smoothly on the skin yet it has a matte finish and it feels quite cool on the skin too. So it also helps to prevent my skin to look oily. But the icing to the cake is that this has a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

If you read my post about powder sunscreen, I mentioned in there that you need something that will fully cover your skin, that's why choose a broad-spectrum option that protects against both UVA and UVB radiation and a high SPF such as SPF50+ to keep your complexion even, prevent premature aging, and reduce the risk of skin cancer.

I read one negative review of this product in an online store, and the reviewer said this gave her a sunburn because "it doesn't have enough protection and doesn't get absorbed by the skin." Well, it is true that it doesn't get absorbed by the skin because this is a physical sunscreen, not a chemical sunscreen ( you can read about the difference here). And this is also not waterproof, so every time you get wet or sweat, you really need to reapply.

Another common concern with a sunscreen stick is hygiene. Of course, you directly glide it on your skin and you will reapply. A product like that can cause you to break out. So every after use, I get a tissue and wipe off the top. And I never experienced a breakout. I brought this on my trip to Japan, and it was so convenient!

VERDICT

PROS: Not greasy, not tacky, it glides smoothly with a matte finish. Lightweight and cooling on the skin. Perfect for those with oily skin. It's also really easy to carry.

CONS: Not for dry skin. You may want to try their Glow or Aqua variants instead.
