Cycling safety is a very serious matter. Governments and companies around the world are still working towards making the roads a safer place for cyclists by adding cycling lanes, introducing light-up jackets, glow-in-the dark paints and more. But the inventor Crispin Sinclair has decided to take to the next ultimate level with his Babel Bike, which he touts to be the world’s safest bicycle.

As you can see, the Babel Bike has been designed to keep the rider safe. The weird seat that looks more like a baby stroller is actually its most important safety feature. Equipped with seat belts, it has a roll cage, similar to ones that you see in off-road racing cars, to protect the rider from accidents.

I’ve been riding my mountain bike ever since I was 10-years-old and never even worn a helmet in my life (it’s not customary in my country). But I guess some worry about safety more than they should. And Babel Bike seems like the perfect solution for those paranoids who are scared to step out in the streets, and who are also confident enough to look ridiculous in public.

Crispin Sinclair is now seeking £50,000 GBP to make his idea a reality through an IndieGoGo campaign, offering the non-electric version of the bike for £1,999 GBP and electric version for £2,999.
