Do you suffer from maskne or have inflamed and irritated skin? Then read this AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack review, this might be the product you need.

I have sensitive skin, so way before the pandemic my skin is often inflamed and irritated. Now that we have to wear a mask whenever and wherever we go, it is worst because of maskne. And I'm not the only one having this skin problem. According to The New York Times article, maskne is the new type of acne. Since we can't ditch the face mask anytime soon for health and safety reasons, I look for solutions to treat my maskne. One of the things I find very helpful for me is the products which contain mugwort. If you're not familiar with Mugwort yet, it is not some Harry Potter lingo.

WHAT EXACTLY IS MUGWORT?

As I mentioned in my previous post, Mugwort has a high content of Vitamin E which is good for the skin and anti-inflammatory. It is a plant that grows in Asia, North America, and Northern Europe. The plant parts that grow above the ground and the root are used to make medicine. Some people take mugwort root as a "tonic" and to boost energy, while some women take mugwort for irregular periods and other menstrual problems. While some, apply mugwort lotion directly to the skin to relieve itchiness caused by burn scars. You can read more about it on WebMD.

And because Mugwort has the ability to cleanse impurities, it can detoxify your skin and get rid of acne. But people who are allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds, daisies, and other herbs from the Asteraceae/Compositae plant family should stay away from this mask because they can be allergic to Mugwort too.

WHAT IS IT?

AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack is a pore-cleansing and skin-healing wash-off pack. With a base of 61% Mugwort extract, this product clears the pores of impurities, soothes inflamed and irritated skin, and gently exfoliates dead skin to reveal a bright and healthy complexion. You can read its full ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Use a spatula to scoop an adequate amount on clean, dry face. Apply an even layer, avoiding the eye and mouth area. Allow to dry and harden for approximately 15 minutes, not more! And rinse off with lukeewarm water.

SCENT: It has the usual herb-scent of Mugwort but with mint. This mask smells really minty.

PACKAGING: It is packaged in a jar with a tiny spatula hidden on the cap.

TEXTURE & FORMULA: Have you tried doing pottery and put too much water on the clay, you can no longer use it? That's what the texture of this mask reminds me of... a very wet clay. It also has some Adzuki Bean Powder and Kelp mixed in it but I barely felt them even when I was washing off this mask.

MY EXPERIENCE

Since wearing face masks is breaking me out, I have been using the AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack every Saturday night to unclogged my pores and suit the irritation. It really makes my skin feel smooth and clean again. Pimples dry overnight and the redness on my cheeks disappears. But don't expect it'll cure your cystic acne overnight. Cystic acnes usually have different cause and much deeper on the skin.

If you're wondering why I only do it once a week, not more, it's because the wash off mask feels drying on the skin. Even though I described it as a "wet clay" it dries when applied to the skin. If you leave it for more than 15 minutes, it'll already feel like it's sucking the moisture out of your skin. That is why it is crucial that you don't exceed its use. Personally, I leave it on for 12 minutes instead of 15. But that is entirely up to you, whatever you think works best on your skin, as long as don't exceed the suggested time of use on the product instruction.

Overall, there is a reason why this is the most popular AXIS-Y product on Instagram. It cleanses, treats, and improves overall skin health. One of the top tips for curing maskne by dermatologists is weekly exfoliation, and I find this product a good exfoliator to treat the maskne.
