Today I’ve been at the awards ceremony for the Bradford Textile Society Awards.
As I said in a previous post, I came third place in the Worshipful Company of Dyers award. It was great to see other contestants work and speak to people from the industry. The awards were held at the wonderful Salt Mills in Saltaire.. what a place!!
While there, I met Tony Glenville, who was lovely to speak to and also delivered the most inspirational talk about the increasing importance of fabric design in fashion. According to Tony, the importance of materials used is on the rise while the design of the fashion garments is becoming more simpler. Craftsmanship of fabrics is becoming extremely desirable and sought after, particularly as the gap between ready to wear and haute couture lessens.
