As I have blogged gazillion times before about how my daughter has the most sensitive skin in the family and that is why the regular Johnson products did nothing much hurt her skin. That is when I discovered Aveeno baby wash and shampoo that was sent to my by my sister from the US.
In 2012, it was a bit difficult to find this product in Indian shops. But, over time, I am seeing lots of international products easily available in India. If you too are looking for something for your baby’s sensitive skin, try Aveeno baby wash and shampoo.
Lets get started with the review.
Packaging:
The bottle is pretty sturdy and has a flip top mechanism. I like how it is sturdy cause trust me when you are giving a bath to a baby, last thing you want is flimsy plastic. The flip is not too rigid as well and flips back and forth quite easily. The bottle shown here is a smaller one and you do get a larger version. The larger bottle lasted me a year with my daughter.
Pricing:
Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo 18 ounce – Rs 1124
Though it looks on the pricy side, I landed on it after spending quite a thousand bucks on johnsons, himalayas and more. So, if you buy it initially before trying these, you might save some money.
What the label says:
It mentions that it is soap-free and allergy free. It is also tear-free and paraben-free. It mentions quite a lot of chemically ingredients, which sometimes makes me wonder if these products really are all that natural as they claim to be.
Why to buy:
1) Wash and Shampoo both and we Indians love a good deal
2) Lathers quite well to cover both hair and body.
3) Absolutely paraben free and allergy free – two things key when selecting products for babies.
4) Smells very light. You don’t want products that make your LO a walking perfume shop.
5) Available online on all baby portals.
6) Very sturdy bottle and no flimsy packaging.
Why to avoid:
1) Price is quite a deterrent.
Overall, if you ignore the fact that you will be willing to shell a bomb for a bath product, this wash and shampoo is really an awesome product. The fact that it lasted a year for me that too when I used to bathe her everyday with a head bath since her head was full of hair since birth, I think it is a deal.
For my daughter, I avoided most baby products and there were only a trusted few that I went with. I will be reviewing others in detail as well, but for a newborn baby, Aveeno has suited her till date as she enters toddlerdom.
