There are few lovely months in New York City, making many people wonder why anyone bothers to live here. Okay, we do have culture, diversity and excitement, and that is amazing. I guess that makes up for the often unforgiving climate. Autumn is one of the lovelier times to be a New Yorker. It's crisp, cool and beautiful. Even more beautiful is New York State this time of year. A place that is a hop, skip and jump for many NYC residents to escape to. Yes, we actually do take upstate trips to New York state to see the leaves changing. That may sound strange to some of you, but we don't' get to really experience it here. It's the one thing I miss, the smells of autumn.
Everyone talks about summer getaways, but few people discuss quick autumn trips. If you have a fall getaway planned, check out these autumn weekend getaway looks.
Autumn Weekend Getaway Looks
Outfit #1
Plaid and autumn go together like peanut butter and jelly. If you are getting away for an autumn weekend getaway, it's probable you'll want to be outdoors, so I created this outfit for a beautiful day to enjoy the crisp autumn air. I styled this plaid shirt from Bp. with skinny jeans from KUT from the Cloth. Over the plaid shirt I layered this cozy cardigan from Vince and finished the outfit with comfortable weatherproof booties from Blondo, a rugged nylon backpack from TUMI in burgundy, knit beret in ivory from Helen Kaminski and fingerless gloves from Halogen.
Outfit #2
Autumn can be a tricky time of year in terms of temperature making layers important. A vest can be a perfect piece to pack for days outdoors where a coat will be too much. Keeping with the vibrant colors of autumn, I styled this J. Crew sweater with olive jeans. I layered an olive packable vest over the sweater, added these cognac lace up boots from Frye and finished it off with a knit cap from MICHAEL Michael Kors and red bag from Baggallini.
Outfit #3
This last look is less rugged but still autumn weekend getaway inspired. I styled a slim grey turtleneck sweater from Lauren Ralph Lauren under a brown cashmere poncho from Nordstrom. Handbags can be such a pain when wearing a poncho so I added this grey belt bag from Treasure and Bond and finished the look with a pair of bright yellow Rothys.
No matter where you live, crisp fall weather can be so rejuvenating. I hope you get outdoors this season and these looks help you figure out what to wear.
