With the seasons tipping over into fall/autumn I felt like it was time that my makeup should probably be switched up a bit. Not so much for the daytime, where I like to keep things very light, but for the more special occasions as it doesn't really feel season appropriate to be wearing brights anymore.
Think of autumn and the first thing that comes to mind are deep berries, reds and plums which, as a bonus are all really on trend right now. The difficulty comes in pulling them off since applying too much will make you come off all 'Aunt Sally' - not a good look for anyone. One that I have in mind when talking about this is NARS Blush in Dolce Vita so grab your fluffiest brush, take only the tiniest amount since it is ridiculously pigmented and blend it softly on the high points of your cheeks. Then comes lips, the place where the berries just seem to belong. My top pick would be Revlon Lipstick in Plum which runs in a similar color family to the blush, making them perfect to pair together. Either pat it on for a stain which lasts and lasts or wear with a lip liner to up the ante.
One thing seen on the run way a lot was the deep lips and golden eyes, and I think its a look both beautiful and easy to create. I use the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Eternal Gold for a shadow that can be swiped on and last all day, but alternatively, you could check out something like the MUA Palette, which I wrote about here for a lovely range of autumn suited tones and experiment with layering them up and smoking them out for a more dramatic look. For skin, I definitely suffer less woes when the weather is colder so a good concealer and powder will get me through, but for higher coverage I think a good dewy foundation or tinted moisturiser would suit this look perfectly.
