River of Time
As part of the River of Time book tour, I'm so happy to welome Lisa T. Bergren to the blog for an Author Interview.
Without further ado, let's get to it:--00--
¿Could you tell us what the River of Time series is about, in your own words? It’s about two modern-day, American girls who time travel back to medieval Italy, and have to find their way back…and if they really want to go. It’s a series full of action and romance.
¿Have you always loved fantasy books? ¿Why made you start in this genre? I loved fantasy books as a kid—A Wrinkle in Time was a favorite—but I’ve only recently returned to reading in the genre. I wanted to write something like Twilight for my girls (who are 13 and 16), but I didn’t want to write vampire novels. Time travel allowed the “fantastic” aspect but also allowed me to keep my characters fully human.
Author Interview: Lisa T. Bergren - River of Time SeriesThe relationship between the sisters in these books, Lia and Gabi, is awesome and so realistic, do you have any brothers or sisters yourself? I have a younger brother. I always thought it’d be cool to have a sister. The girls’ relationship is somewhat based on my daughters’ relationship—in an idealized form. Someday, I hope they’ll stop bickering and be as together as Lia and Gabi are.
If you could have some super power, would you pick Time travel too? or something else? Mmm, time travel would be seriously tempting. But I think I’d have to go with flying.
Finally, what's next for you after River of Time? I want to write more River of Time books—at least two more, detailing Lia and Luca’s relationship, as well as Lord Greco. In the meantime, I’m contracted to publish an adult series called The Grand Tour, beginning with Glamorous Illusions, which comes out in June 2012. I think I’ll also do some River e-novellas in early 2012. I just can’t get these characters out of my mind!
