The Albums You Need to Know About Every Week
This week, Austra released their sophomore record, bringing their inky, poetic brooding to the dance floor, and Sigur Rós gave us their seventh and slightly uncharacteristically hard-hitting new effort. Full of quickly-paced, heavily-percussive tracks, the album is unavoidably brilliant. NYC’s grunge-metal rockers, Heliotrope, dropped their irresistible, kick-ass debut, and Cincinnati’s Vacation presented some noisy, hook-infested punk rock. Adding some lighter tones are TV Girl’s self-released, sugar-wit indie record and Primal Scream’s tenth psychedelic pop record. Then there’s Kanye. Did you know? It’s his sixth and, yes, it’s pure dark and twisted genius.
