“Assault Rifle” Deaths in A.D. 2011

Posted on the 22 January 2013 by Adask

A modern, military assault rifle is a weapon capable of being fired single-shot, in bursts of three, and finally full-automatic. In essence, a true “assault rifle” must be capable of firing more than one round for each pull of the trigger.

As such, the fearsome “assault rifles” held by millions of Americans across the country are actually just semi-automatic rifles that resemble true assault rifles only in calibers and magazine sizes.  Other than that, any further resemblance between domestic “assault rifles” resemble true military assault rifles is purely cosmetic.

In the final analysis, it doesn’t make much difference how dangerous a particular weapon looks.  How dangerous is the man holding that weapon?  Some men are far more dangerous holding a knife (or even a 1″ scalpel) than other men holding an AR-15.

Here’s evidence that, compared to an “assault rifle,” you’re twice as likely to be killed by a carving knife, and perhaps 100 times (or more) as likely to be killed by a doctor’s scalpel.

When you look at the numbers, it becomes obvious that the current push for gun control is motivated by some “special interest” rather than the deaths of 20 children at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.  They want gun control–especially for the non-existent “assault rifles”–but not for the sake of protecting children.  They want gun control to protect a government that’s become an overt criminal enterprise.  Don’t give up your guns.
