As a tour guide, I am approached all the time by people asking what to do in Amsterdam.
Something for Everyone (Photo credit: Moyan_Brenn_BE_BACK_on_3th_SEPT)
If only there was a single, simple answer to that question. Amsterdam (despite its image) is an incredibly varied city, with something to do for everyone. Art lovers, hipsters, children, grandparents – all are welcome in this town and all will find something great to do.
The job of figuring out what to do has just been made easier, thanks to the clever guys over at Citytripplanner.com. Now you can simply input your interests and CityTrip Planner will give not only tell you where you should go, but how to get there and what route to use to make sure you see everything!
CityTrip Planner works by asking you to rate (out of five stars) your interest in the following six categories:
Nature Monuments & Landmark buildings
Churches & Religious heritage Museums & Art
Streets & squares Attractions & Activities
You then input the date of your arrival and how many days you plan to stay and CityTrip Planner will put together an itinerary for your stay – complete with maps, walking routes and information on your stops. It allows you to explore the city in a way that ensures that you don’t miss the good stuff. It even takes a lunch break into account!
If the Hash, Marijuana & Hemp Museum (for instance) doesn’t seem like your thing, simply remove it from the list and update to get a new suggestion. The results are completely customizable: you can change the hours you want to spend on the road, how long you want to spend at each place and book tickets right there and then. And their Android app is perfect for the traveler on the go! (and what traveler isn’t on the go?)
So give CityTrip Planner a try – you might even surprise yourself! I know I did.
