Art Journaling with the Journal Buddy

By Cbdesigns @cherylboglioli

Art Journal with the Journal BuddyI’m having a great time playing in my journal from Yvonne Blair.  I shared a post recently how I created a Fabric Elements Fused Journal Cover using this same journal.  Today I’m sharing a page from inside that I recently created.  I’m also participating with Yvonne Blair’s Blog hop with some fellow amazing designers sharing how much we love Yvonne’s new Journal Buddy.  What is her Journal Buddy?

Journal Buddy with Yvonne Blair Journal
Here is a picture of Yvonne’s Journal Buddy with her Journal I covered.  The Journal Buddy is a great little tool that can easily travel in your journal or journaling supplies.  I can use it as a ruler, as a straight edge or wave edge, or to draw in evenly spaced journaling lines.  I wanted to show you a few ways in this art journal layout.
Yvonne Blair Journal
First, let me say I love Yvonne’s journal.  It is bound in such a way that when I open the journal, it lays flat.  That makes it so easy to journal in.

I also appreciate the fact that the paper is sturdy enough to take a lot of media.  I love playing with various mediums even in my journal, so this is an important feature for me.
Using TCW Stencils and Glass beads
After spraying some Dylusions sprays on my paper and letting it dry, I applied Faber-Castell Glass Beads through a stencil by The Crafter’s Workshop.  Make sure to wash any medium off your stencil as soon as you are finished.

It was pretty right here, but I decided to add more.  I then let it dry and you will see from my finished journal page above, that I sprayed black spray over the glass beads for contrast.  The beads didn’t resist as much as I had hoped, but it still looks cool and I learned something while playing.  That is what art journaling is all about for me.
Tracing with Journal Buddy

I removed one sheet from back of journal and sprayed it as well.  I then used the wavy edge of the Journal Buddy to trace a line to cut.  I then cut along the line for two pockets and adhered these to the bottom of the journal pages.

After inking some tags and stamping them with no other than Yvonne Blair’s stamps from Impression Obsession, I used the Journal Buddy to ink in some lines.  I can now go back and write some thoughts or ideas on my tags and they fit nicely in my little pockets.

I truly love the versatility of the Journal Buddy.  You can click on the hyperlink to order your own for $10 ($8 + $2 shipping).  You can also find more information about Yvonne’s journal by emailing her at [email protected].  To purchase any of Yvonne’s stamps, you can do so at Impression Obsession.  Of course, always check with your local independent store first.  If they aren’t carrying Yvonne’s products yet, you can always suggest them.

Now for the fun part.  As mentioned, I’m participating in a blog hop with a fabulous set of designers.
