Arsenal Set to Face Barcelona: Starting XI, Confirmed Team News, Injury Update for Tonight’s Friendly

Arsenal is facing apprehension as they prepare for tonight’s pre-season match against Barcelona, with uncertainty surrounding the fitness of Leandro Trossard. The young talent picked up a knock during Arsenal’s impressive 5-0 victory against an MLS All Stars team last week, resulting in his early substitution after 56 minutes. Unfortunately, the injury also kept him out of the subsequent match against Manchester United.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta expressed caution, stating, “He got a knock, and obviously we don’t want to take any risks at this stage. He had some pain, but I don’t expect it to be anything significant.”

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been on the sidelines since suffering a calf injury during the last season’s run-in. The versatile defender recently returned to training, engaging in individual work as he gradually works his way back to full fitness.

However, the Ukrainian will not be risked in the friendly match against LaLiga champions Barcelona in Los Angeles, as he aims to be fully fit for the start of the Premier League season in just over two weeks’ time.

As Arsenal navigates the pre-season, they have experienced mixed results so far, with a draw of 1-1 against Nurnberg, a resounding 5-0 victory against an MLS All Stars XI, but also a 2-0 loss to rivals Manchester United.

For tonight’s match, Barcelona has confirmed their starting lineup, but Arsenal’s XI remains to be announced. The uncertainty surrounding Trossard’s fitness places doubt on his participation. Meanwhile, Zinchenko’s ongoing recovery will be closely monitored to ensure his availability for the start of the Premier League season.
