Posted on the 29 July 2023 by Makably

As the Pacific Nations Cup approaches, Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Simon Raiwalui has made crucial decisions in preparation for the face-off against Samoa. Centre Semi Radradra has been chosen as the captain, leading a squad that boasts five new caps in the starting XV. Meli Derenalagi, Vilive Miramira, Iosefo Masi, and Ilaisa Droasese will all make their debuts alongside the talented Joseva Tamani, who is set to impress coming off the bench. On the opposing side, Samoa welcomes former All Black Steve Luatua, a significant addition to their powerful back row, along with experienced players Jack Lam and Fritz Lee, who will captain the team.

Samoa’s ex-Wallaby, Christian Leali’afano, maintains his position at No. 10 following his remarkable kicking performance against Japan. Meanwhile, potential first caps await ex-USA front-row forward Titi Lamositele and hooker Sama Malolo, adding to the excitement of the upcoming clash.

Radradra eagerly anticipates leading his country and expresses gratitude for the coaching staff’s trust in him. The young and experienced players are poised to showcase their talent, having diligently prepared for the challenging Pacific Islanders team. Radradra, who has prior experience with Iosefo Masi in 7s, looks forward to playing alongside his teammates, making his dream of leading the team a reality.
