Our day in Arras was beautiful and emotional, which is why I have split it into two posts!
Arras is rather picturesque town in France, with a Gothic feel. The Grand Place is huge and lovely to wander around (but I must admit it doesn’t have the WOW factor of Brussels)…
After a wander around we headed to the Cabaret Rouge British Cemetery. Technically in Souchez, it is very close to Arras and we were keen to pay a visit.
7,655 soldiers from the Commonwealth armies, who died during the First World War are buried at Cabaret Rouge and more than half of them haven’t been identified.

I really didn’t expect to become quite so emotional during my visit and neither did Boon. We both went our separate ways and walked around deep in our own thoughts and saying a quiet word of thanks to all the men who had lost their lives.
