We’ve already heard that Apple is looking to make a bigger iPhone, but here are two new interesting rumors to throw into the mix: curved glass screens and pressure-sensitive touch sensors. That’s according to Bloomberg, which reportedly spoke with someone familiar with Apple’s plans.
According to the report, Apple is working on two new sizes for the iPhone – 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. That’s a little more believable than the 6-inch iPhone we heard about last month, but whether Apple is planning to venture into full-on “phablet” territory remains to be seen. More interesting is the mention of a curved glass screen. It doesn’t sound like Apple is planning to make a fully curved iPhone, like the Samsung Galaxy Round or the LG G Flex. Instead, the glass is said to “curve downward at the edges,” which makes it sound more like a stylistic decision than anything else.
In addition to a curved screen, the report says that Apple is working on new pressure-sensitive touch sensors. This would allow the iPhone to distinguish the difference between light and heavy touches, which could definitely be put to good use in gaming.
The larger phones with curved glass are said to appear in the second half of 2014, while the new touch sensors are expected to appear future models after that.
