Apple Picking at Stony Hill Farms

By Thedreamery

IMG_4827What’s a girl to do with four kiddies on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, one promising that Fall is upon us. One of the best things to do during autumn on the east coast, is go apple and pumpkin picking. It is such a great way to experience and enjoy our surroundings throughout each season. I wanted to start my apple picking season early this year, hoping to make it a season long of using apples in creative ways. We headed to the pick your own part of Stony Hill Farms. Although to early for pumpkins, we grabbed our baskets and headed to the first apple trees of the season. I stood back taking photos, watching, as the kiddies fill their baskets. We came home with about 30 pounds of freshly picked apples, so there was lots that had to be created in the kitchen. And since it is the first week of Fall, I’ve decided to share plenty of apple and seasonal recipes all week-long with you. It was great to be able to create versatile dishes using apples in ways that are good for you and delicious too. Even with an array of delicious dishes, one of my favorites way to eat an apple still is just sliced into crisp, tangy and juicy wedges. I can’t wait to head back to the farm and pick some pumpkins. Fall is starting out to be a good season. What do you plan to do this fall?
