After months of speculation Apple has just unveiled their newest product: the Apple Watch, available in early 2015. The highly anticipated smartwatch marks the company’s first foray into the wearable tech. With Apple’s trademark sleek, elegant aesthetic combined with a number of impressive features, the Apple Watch could play a big role in making wearable tech a mainstream trend.

The watch will come in two sizes (38 mm and 42 mm) and in three different types: Watch, Watch Sport, and Watch Edition. With six different wrist strap choices, the accessory can encompass different styles, from youthful to sporty to sophisticated.

The Apple Watch starts at $349 and requires an iPhone 5 or above to work. This may be worth it to many people, however, as the device features a slew of cool attributes like a rotatable “digital crown” dial to navigate through menus and apps, “digital touch” drawing capabilities, pressure and force sensitivity, customizable animated emoji, the familiar Siri, fitness and health-tracking features, a heartbeat sensor, “Glances” technology to relay information quickly, custom notifications, built-in Apple Pay, and many opportunities for third-party developers.

“We love to make new products that improve people’s lives. We love to make things that allow our users to make things that they could never have imagined. We think it will redefine what people expect from its category,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook at the unveiling. “It’s the next chapter in Apple’s story.”
