Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak Explains Server Virtualization

Posted on the 02 April 2013 by Tftb @TFTB

Server virtualization either is partially understood or never understood. Fusion.io’s chief scientist and Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak explains the concept of server virtualization. The explanation itself is easy to understand but if you don’t know anything about computer hardware and servers you might not understand anything at all.

What the video explains is, Server CPUs are developing, growing and becoming powerful everyday. But there is just not enough data to keep them busy all the time. Keeping that concept in mind Steve Wozniak explains why and how the underutilized CPU is a bad thing and this is why virtualization came into existence. But virtualization creates a bottleneck because of which accessing data at the same time by multiple users becomes a trouble and increases the amount of time required for any data to load/access. Woz very nicely explains how Fusion.io solves this problem and makes everything accessible at a faster and cheaper rate.

It’s a good marketing and advertising video for Fusion.io but also the most easy to understand video which explains Server Virtualization is less than 3 minutes.
